Over 300 pages, 100s of experiments, and countless hours of watching and learning has led me to this moment: the last day of my Independent Study.
As I touched on in my last post, what a journey this has been. And like any journey ever, there have been highs and lows, time of smooth-sailing and even days that felt like huge bumps in the road. But, in the end, the it’s not the destination, it truly is the journey that counts. And I am so thankful for that.
From very late editing nights to running around school trying to find an interviewee to trying to keep the wifi connected to my computer, this independent study has truly been all over the place from the start. At times, it would seen so chaotic that I truly wondered how I would be able to pull this off. Then I really thought about it and wondered, “if I had the choice to go back and not pursue my independent study, would I?” I am happy to say that the answer is no, I never want to forget this experience.
This study surprised me and took me through history and all over the country, right from my desk. I spoke to knowledgable filmmakers all the way from Seattle and I even got to travel back in time and learn about classic movies from the 1980s. When I look back on it now, I wouldn’t have traded this study for anything.
Commercial Applications for Video really solidified my passion for filmmaking and I think that it made me even more passionate about this field! I am so grateful to be able to direct my own class that will give me so many useful tips and experiences to take with me in the real world.
Again, for those who have been following me all the way, I want to say from the bottom of my heart: thank you. Thank you for trusting me to help this study grow and blossom over the course of this semester, I am truly honored to be surrounded by people like y’all. To my independent study advisor: thank you for giving me all the access to materials and the knowledge that I would need to grow in this field, I am eternally grateful for it. To my parents: thank you for allowing me to test the waters in my dream field at the school that has given me so many opportunities.
Have a great summer and as always: stay safe and happy 🙂
